Randal peered out the window at the rocks of salt, as the helicopter zoomed over the beach.
“They’re a natural occurrence due to the high salt content of the water,” said the pilot.
Randal said, “Why are they in squares?”
“No one knows, I believe —,” the chopper shook.
It spun out of control and tossed Randal the only survivor into the drink. He awoke with a cough expelling the seawater from his lungs. Using a rusted pole for support he stammered to the crash site.
“Mayday, Mayday, I’m stranded on salt rock island,” he pleaded.
No response.
Shot down by the USDA for excess sodium content. Is Gilligan on the other side? You’ve got us on tenterhooks. Enquiring minds want to know. ๐
Lol, it was bad turbulence combined with an inexperienced pilot.
Yikes! Watch out for those squares. Kinda’ reminds me of the Bermuda Triangle.
Thanks, turbulence freaks out most people.
Stranded on a salt water island without even finding out why the rocks were in squares! Poor Randal
It will be something to think about at least, while he hopes for rescue.
Not the sort of place you’d like to be stranded, that’s for sure, Cole. If he’s not rescued, he’ll become a salty sea dog or maybe an old salt.
janet
Old salt, I like that. Thanks
He didn’t read the sign don’t talk to the driver/pilot while bus/helicopter is in operation. Well done. Looking forward to more.
Some people have a problem with flying and speaking at the same time.
I think it would be quite a task.
Dear Cole, I really liked your story. I think someone doesn’t want the truth to get out about the squares. Don’t know but the timing is odd. Excellent mystery and I hope his Mayday doesn’t keep falling on deaf ears. Good one! Nan ๐
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.
Cole, Perhaps the salty air is messing with the radio on the helicopter. Either that or it was damaged in the crash. He better start exploring that island and working on a plan. I hope there’s fresh water somewhere. Good and well-written story. ๐ —Susan
Thanks, the radio was damaged in the crash.
Mmmm sounds like your Randal is in the same place with my lady! Maybe they could find each other.
Lily
I agree, glad you liked the piece.
