Salt Rock Island

Randal peered out the window at the rocks of salt, as the helicopter zoomed over the beach.

“They’re a natural occurrence due to the high salt content of the water,” said the pilot.

Randal said, “Why are they in squares?”

“No one knows, I believe —,” the chopper shook.

It spun out of control and tossed Randal the only survivor into the drink. He awoke with a cough expelling the seawater from his lungs. Using a rusted pole for support he stammered to the crash site.

“Mayday, Mayday, I’m stranded on salt rock island,” he pleaded.

No response.

  1. Dear Cole, I really liked your story. I think someone doesn’t want the truth to get out about the squares. Don’t know but the timing is odd. Excellent mystery and I hope his Mayday doesn’t keep falling on deaf ears. Good one! Nan ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Cole, Perhaps the salty air is messing with the radio on the helicopter. Either that or it was damaged in the crash. He better start exploring that island and working on a plan. I hope there’s fresh water somewhere. Good and well-written story. ๐Ÿ™‚ —Susan
